Beach Front Cottages at Ponce Inlet
20th February 2007
Author: Tag Craig

In a stunningly beautiful area of Florida’s Atlantic coast, you can now choose from one of seven architecturally unique oceanfront homes. The homes are situated in the charming township of Ponce Inlet, a barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean to the East and the Halifax River Intracoastal Waterway system to the West. The location is close to all of the amenities of a coastal lifestyle, including boating, golf, fishing and beach combing.

Just a short walk from the project is the historic Ponce Inlet lighthouse, which began service in 1887 and due to restoration and preservation efforts, remains one of the best-kept and most complete lighthouses in the country. At 175 feet, it is the tallest working lighthouse in Florida and the second tallest in America.

Building restrictions required by both state and local ordinances made this a challenging project for the developer, Cranewoods Development. The project required close coordination to ensure that the homes were designed to satisfy the requirements of coastal construction for ocean front homes in Florida, and to insure that the views of other residents were not impaired. In addition, the project site plan had to be carefully integrated into the topography of the protective oceanfront dune system to avoid disruption of the dunes, while providing maximum ocean views, and allowing four of the homes to have private swimming pools.

The developer explored various types of architectural styles before settling on a historic Cape Cod ‘shingle style’ look as the best fit for the homes. The individual designs have a mix of architectural details, including cedar shake, historic window and door brackets and carriage style garage doors, giving each home its own personal identity. The resulting beachfront community feel is unique.

With the outside of the homes decided, attention now turned to the interiors, which needed to respect the exterior design, but provide the luxury and sophistication that ocean front homes deserve. Features include private elevators, extensive cottage style trim, stone floors and custom kitchens with the latest in stainless steel appliances. When you combine these features with the open oceanfront floor plans, state-of-the-art technology and spectacular views, the result is an exceptional interior to meet the expectations of oceanfront clients. Buyers can choose from one of three separate professionally designed vignettes to reflect their lifestyle and personal taste.

The key to the success of these enchanting oceanfront homes is teamwork. To ensure that the interiors meet the exacting standards demanded by their clients, the nationally recognized Merchandizing Plus was selected to select the interior finish vignettes. To insure quality in the construction, the respected firm of HCM Construction, with considerable experience in building oceanfront homes with exacting architectural standards, was selected as the project builder.
