Florida Shopping

Miami is the shopping Mecca of Florida and boasts endless premier shopping malls and boutiques. For shoppers who want a taste of the local flavor, Bayside Marketplace and Biscayne Bay have a number of boutiques and specialty shops that sell everything from plastic fruit to high-tech electronics.

The Mayfair Shops, located in the Grove, is a complex made up of boutiques and nightclubs. And Sawgrass Mills, with more than 300 shops and kiosks in a 2.4-million-square-foot facility makes even the most serious and dedicated shoppers feel like they've died and gone to the great big mall in the sky....read more

Aventura
Dominating the Aventura landscape, the Aventura Mall has over 250 stores to choose from, plus 18 food court destinations and full-fledged restaurants. It includes, naturally, a movie theater (in the form of a 24 screen megaplex) as well as a giant indoor playground for the young (or young at heart, as long as they don’t mind being escorted off the premises by security when the children complain). In the confines of this sprawling, gargantuan monument to consumerism, you will find (amid mall standards like Macy’s, Sears, J.C. Penny’s, and Bloomingdale’s) shops devoted to past-times you would never expect (e.g., “The Art of Shaving.”) Overall, the mall is quite upscale, and is the shopping destination of choice for much of Miami’s elite, including me. Designer clothing stores abound, even many that are unknown outside the somewhat insular “stylista” world. In spite of the mall being on the cutting edge of fashion, you can still find a Gymboree if you need one. Ah, the best of every world...read more about Aventura »

The Falls Shopping Center Mall in Kendall, Florida
The Falls Shopping Center Mall is like many other outdoor malls, in that it features large stores, movie theaters, and restaurants. Unlike other theaters, however, it also features covered wooden walkways and is landscaped with tropical foliage around lagoon-type ponds. Even if you don’t want to buy anything, it’s quite a nice place to walk around and window-shop. Every Thursday, you will find great live acts performing on the mall’s central stage, and the many restaurants provide great dining opportunities. All in all, the Falls Shopping Center Mall is one of my favorite malls in Florida, and a great place to go if you find yourself in Kendall...read more about Kendall
